It was August of 2013, when DC area Vaishnavs were invited to assemble in a local church of Silver Spring to hear the big announcement – that a Pushtimargiya Haveli will be established in Nation’s Capitol, serving Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia Vaishanvs. Local dignitaries were very excited to make this announcement in presence of Param Pujya 108 Goswami Shri Dwarkeshlalji (Kadi, Ahmedabad) and hundreds of Vaishnavs.

As a first step to the project, local vaishnav groups (Tavasmi and Vaishnav Sangh) came together and Vraj Vaishnav Kendra was established to educate young vaishnavs on Hinduism/Pushtimarg and do Satasang activities for adults. First session was held at Clarion Inn, College Park. Soon, the venue was moved to Sherwood High School to have organized classes conducted by dedicated teachers. Kendra’s needs were growing and the classes were then moved to Sherwood Elementary school with a stage facility where kids and adults also could perform religious cultural activities and Utsavs with strong support of dedicated volunteers.
